Wandelbots NOVA licenses

This page explains how Wandelbots NOVA licenses work. It focuses on

License types

There are currently two types of Wandelbots NOVA licenses: Developer and Robotics

Activate license

Prerequisites

To get a license assigned to you by Wandelbots Customer Success, you need to have a NOVA account in the Developer Portal.

  1. Go to the Developer Portal .
  2. If you do not have an account yet, click on Sign Up and follow the instructions.
  3. If you already have an account, log in with your credentials.
  4. Provide the account email to your Customer Success Manager to get a license assigned.

Cloud instances

  1. Log in to the Developer Portal with your account that has the license assigned.
    In the sidebar, the lock icon next to the cloud instance tab is now gone.
  2. Open the tab and create a new cloud instance.
    You’ll be prompted to activate your license.
  3. Confirm the activation of the license.
    Activation is required only once for cloud usage.

Virtual machines and bare-metal instances

  1. Install Wandelbots NOVA on your VM or bare-metal server.
    You’ll be prompted to activate your license.

    Each on-premise installation of Wandelbots NOVA counts as a slot for the available VM/bare-metal instances and as 1 activation.
    This means, while you can have up to unlimited Wandelbots NOVA installations, you can only activate the license 5 times.

  2. Follow the activation steps or use the Activate License  endpoint.
    You’ll be prompted to verify a one-time code.

Transfer license between instances

To transfer a license, you have to deactivate it on the current instance first.

Deactivate license

  1. Open your instance’s API and use the Deactivate License  endpoint.
  2. Select the instance to deactivate.
  3. Submit to free up an instance slot.

Deactivating a license allows transfer to another VM/bare-metal instance.

Offline usage

Offline usage applies only to VM and bare-metal NOVA installations within the range allocated by your license type. Cloud instances cannot operate offline.

  1. Use the Get License  endpoint to check your license’s offline usage details.
    You can see the grace_period_expiry_date field, which indicates when the offline grace period ends. After this date, the instance will require an internet connection to continue functioning.

  1. Open the instance’s system settings on the homescreen to check the offline usage status.

Manage license

Users can check the main attributes and limits of their license with the Wandelbots NOVA API and the License helper app.

  1. Open the App Store via the home screen of your Wandelbots NOVA instance.
  2. Install the License helper app.
  3. Open the License helper app.

You’ll see all relevant license information, including:

  • View the main license attributes
  • See usage limits
  • See the activation status
  • Deactivate the license

Recommended for non-technical users or quick at-a-glance overviews.

Troubleshooting

Can licenses be transferred to other Wandelbots NOVA accounts?

No.

For special cases, contact your Customer Success contact person or email customersuccess@wandelbots.com.

What happens when my license has expired?

You will get an Access denied error upon opening the Wandelbots NOVA instance. Contact your Customer Success contact person or email customersuccess@wandelbots.com.

Can licenses be paused or suspended?

No.

Contact your Customer Success contact person or email customersuccess@wandelbots.com for custom arrangements.

Are there any location restrictions?

Yes.

Some embargo countries cannot use a NOVA license. If traveling and suspecting restrictions, contact your Customer Success contact person.
